To say that Rusty Warren was way ahead of her time is an understatement. Unsubtly, unblushingly and undauntedly, this amazing lady challenged and changed the American public's conception of sex from the 1950s to the '70s through a career of sell-out comedy performances and millions selling albums that forever certified her status as "queen of the party records."

In an era of personalities as groundbreaking, dynamic and as original as Ruth Wallis, Pat "The Hip Hypnotist" Collins, Christine Jorgensen and Phyllis Diller in the late 1950s and '60s, Rusty Warren is arguable the original First Lady of the Sexual Revolution.

Will a pull-no-punches style in songs, monologues and throughout her various routines, Rusty Warren stood at the forefront of of the Women's Lib movement with her "knockers up" and her single handedly pioneered music history with albums aptly titled Songs for Sinners, Banned in Boston, Bottoms Up!, Sex-X-Ponent, Sex-plosion and Sin-sational.

Combining the insight of Dr. Ruth, the delivery of Jimmy Durante, the soul of Sophie Tucker - and somewhat chronologically in the middle of these legendary careers, respectively, Rusty Warren: Knockers Up! The Lady Behind the Laughs is the essential companion to the legacy of a remarkable artist, irresistible entertainer and genuine activist unlike any other, before or since.

This DVD, more than anything, is a career retrospective that includes a full concert performance (her final show) as well as a recent conversation with the lady herself. Part biopic, part concert, Rusty Warren: Knockers Up! The Lady Behind the Laughs is, in short, a downright sin-sational documentary experience that's long overdue and well worth the wait.
